Game on the go
A bigger battery unlocks all new possibilities for handheld gaming. The 80Wh battery found on the ROG Ally X is double the previous generation, providing more than 2.7 hours of heavy AAA gaming or 14.5 hours of video playback on Netflix. With the ROG Ally X, spend less time worrying about where a charger is and more time actually gaming.
Zero Gravity, Zero Distraction, 100% Performance
The ROG Ally X is designed to let you play anywhere, so it needed a thermal solution to match. It comes equipped with specially designed heatpipes that operate at peak efficiency in any orientation, and a new third exhaust vent to help keep the mainboard and panel cool.
Anti-Gravity Heat Pipes
Anti-Gravity heat pipes improve thermal transfer by using capillary structure for the wick, increasing capillary pressure by more than 15%. This allows the Ally’s cooling solution to maintain effectiveness even when upside-down.
Fluid Dynamic Bearing
Both fans have a fluid bearing design, which is a tried and tested style that will keep the Ally X spinning like a top for years to come. Fluid bearing fans also are low friction even when run in non-traditional orientations, letting you hold the Ally X in any direction without worry.
Slim down
The ROG Ally X is equipped with brand new fans that are thinner than the previous design, leaving more space for air to pass between each blade. The 0.15mm thick fans allowed for the inclusion of the larger 80Wh battery, while still increasing overall airflow by 10%.
Cool inside and out
We’ve also redesigned the fan shrouds to divert a small amount of air into the chassis, in between the motherboard and display panel. This air keeps the display cooler to the touch, and exhausts out of a new third vent on the top of the chassis, keeping acoustics low when you’re engrossed in a game.
ROG Dust Filter
Dust filters cover both air intake vents, keeping foreign debris out of the fans. Less dust means more efficient and quiet cooling for years to come.
0.1mm Ultra-Thin Fins
Thermal energy is dissipated by two heatsinks, each lined with ultra-thin aluminum fins as slim as 0.1mm. Higher density fins allow for increased heat dissipation and lower air resistance for smoother flow. There are up to 102 heatsink fins totaling 12,173mm²of surface area.

Sporting a 1080p touchscreen panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and FreeSync™ Premium support, this 7-inch display is truly a joy to game on. While common LCD displays generally have a maximum brightness of 200-300 nits, the Ally X cranks it all the way to 500 nits. A higher brightness allows the Ally X to clearly display the action on screen when in challenging brighter environments like the great outdoors without losing access to contrast or 100% of the sRGB color space.
Better Outdoor Visibility with Corning® DXC
A Corning® Gorilla® Glass DXC coating reduces surface reflections while also increasing hardness by over 40% for improved scratch resistance. Fewer reflections mean you can keep track of what’s happening on-screen in bright or outdoor environments.
Design
Ergonomics are everything with a handheld gaming device, so we’ve pulled out all the stops to make the ROG Ally X as comfortable as possible. Taller handgrips, refined macro keys, and flatter surface angles make all of the buttons easier to reach for a great gaming experience.
Effortless Control
The ROG Ally X has also slightly tweaked the locations of the joysticks relative to the D-Pad and face buttons, making it easier for each hand to move between each, while custom-tailored 2° and 14° slants keep the Ally X comfortable in every hand. Comfort is king, and the Ally X is designed from the ground up to fit perfectly in your hands.
Slip-resistant Design
A unique ROG-themed texture features prominently on the rear of the Ally X’s handgrips, adding a touch of flair in addition to rock solid stability in your hands. Confidence and security have never looked this good.
RGB Lighting
Tasteful RGB around both joysticks adds flair and works with Aura Sync-supported games, pulling you further into the action.
Instant Login
A slightly caved-in power button helps you easily locate it without looking, while keeping the fingerprint scanner accurate so you can log in instantly and start gaming.

More substantial handgrips with a carefully contoured curvature grace the ROG Ally X. With just a minor height increase of 4.5mm, the grips feel supremely comfortable in your hands without sacrificing nearly any space in your bag.

Joystick
Joysticks are your primary input with a controller, so we made sure the ROG Ally X features the perfect mix of comfort and accuracy. These improved sticks are also much more durable, now rated 5 million rotation cycles — twice the 2.5 million of the previous Ally. Slightly offset from each other for ergonomics, both joysticks are surrounded by an RGB halo for a little extra flair.
Effortless Button Pressing
The face buttons feature a flat dome shape, making them supremely comfortable to press with a tactile click and less wobble.
Trigger
Subtle redesigns on the angle and contours of the bumper and trigger emphasize comfort without reducing accuracy or responsiveness. The Ally X is the perfect partner for esports shooters and cozy games alike.
Macro Button
Some games have extra functions, which is why we added a macro key on the rear of the chassis. The Ally X features a smaller key than last year, allowing for the same flexibility with less chance of accidental presses.
Directional Buttons
The D-Pad is the unsung hero of a controller, frequently being used to control inventories and perform complex moves. We’ve redesigned the Ally X D-Pad to reduce stickiness when performing circular movements, while still cleanly actuating inputs on the 8-axis wheel.
